Landscape and nature

Imagine a clear day, one of those days where the eye can sweep away and give the impression that everything is closer, almost touchable. Now imagine being on the "roof" of OltrePò Pavese on top of Mount Lesima, 1724 meters above sea level.
Turning your gaze to the south, you can see the Gulf of Genoa and the Tyrrhenian Sea to rest quietly there at the foot of the Northern Apennines, which surrounds everything with its harsh and ancient beauty.
Now move your attention to the north. The Apennine slopes gently toward the Po Valley, a stretch of land heavily populated wrapped in the embrace, to the north, of the other great Italian mountains: the Alps.

This is in a nutshell the Oltrepò Pavese, a middle ground, nestled between biogeographical areas with characteristic significantly different from each other.
